The event

Ireland's largest mass participation event

Now in its 44th year, the Irish Life Dublin Marathon ran on Sunday 26 October 2025 — from Leeson Street Lower, out through the Liberties and the Phoenix Park, over Heartbreak Hill and home to Mount Street Upper. More than 22,500 entrants took on the 26.2 miles, the culmination of a Race Series carrying over 40,000 runners in total, cheered by more than 450,000 spectators and supported by 2,000 volunteers. It is one of the great days in the Irish sporting calendar, and it gets bigger every year.

What the day is built on

  1. Everybody on the same start line. Elite athletes, club runners, wheelchair participants, charity fundraisers and first-time marathoners, all setting off together.
  2. A city that turns out. Courses past Christ Church, the Phoenix Park, Chapelizod and the Pepper Canister Church, lined the whole way by close to half a million people.
  3. Nine million euro for charity. The 2025 event raised around €9 million for more than 120 Irish and international charities.
  4. Real value to the city. An independent UCD assessment put the 2024 event's contribution at €23.79 million, with every €1 spent generating €2.29 across hospitality, accommodation and local business.
  5. A whole season, not one day. The Irish Life Dublin Race Series builds through the Fingal 10K, the Frank Duffy 10 Mile and the Dublin Half Marathon — the 10K and the Half both sold out in 2025.

“A powerful celebration of endurance, community spirit and connection.”
